As the nights lengthen and temperatures drop in late autumn, I find myself drawn to a beautiful ritual – lighting the first early morning fire of the season in the fireplace. Over the years, I've discovered that this simple act mirrors something profound happening within me. Each time I nurture the fire, it reminds me of how I'm kindling my own inner fire, my agni, during this sacred season.
The darkness of November and December has become my teacher and companion. During my morning sadhana, I notice how naturally my meditation deepens as the world outside grows quieter and darker. The extended nights create a perfect vessel for inner work, and I find myself looking forward to these precious moments of stillness after the early morning practice. These weeks of growing darkness are actually preparing us for the powerful portal that Winter Solstice offers.
As the year draws to a close, the new moon offers a perfect moment to pause and reflect. As I sit with my journal, I find myself looking at 2024 month by month – remembering the physical challenges, mental breakthroughs, and emotional journeys that have shaped this year. This simple practice of reflection helps me recognize what no longer serves my highest good and can be released with gratitude.
2025 will be another transformative year, carrying the energy of 9 – reflecting profound congruence and a harmony that allows universal order to manifest.
I invite you to take out a pen and paper. Let the quietness of this season guide your reflection. What experiences have shaped You in 2024? What patterns, beliefs, or habits are you ready to release? What new energies are you ready to welcome for 2025?
One of my cherished traditions is practicing Subagh Kriya for prosperity on New Year's Day. This practice has become a cornerstone of my annual routine, helping me align with the abundance that every year promises. The preparation for this practice begins now, in this dark, quiet new moon night. Set yourself up for success and create your best year yet.
Sometimes the most powerful transformations begin in the darkest season. After all, our inner light can shine at its peak when there is dark.
